REMINDER: THE CONTEST STARTED ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 22ND AT 12:00 A.M AND WILL END AT 11:59 ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19 SEPTEMBER 2, 2009. (GMT-06:00, Central Time, U.S. & Canada). PLEASE USE THE DEDICATED CONTEST THREAD THAT WAS CREATED FOR YOU WHEN YOU SIGNED UP.

Introduction

ThePerfectDesign.com needs a logo and, obviously, we need the perfect logo for what we’re trying to accomplish. We realize, and understand, that the idea of a perfect design is merely subjective and that perfect design is asymptotic, but we’re willing to bet that there is a design out there that meets our current need; ThePerfectDesign.com needs strong brand recognition that will help us achieve our goal to become the best graphic design network now and for years to come. We know that you can help us meet that need with your design (by the way, did we tell you it could be worth $5,000?).

Who is ThePerfectDesign.com?

The purpose of ThePerfectDesign.com is to bring clients, who need graphic design work for their business and/or personal interests, into contact with designers who can deliver top quality graphics in a fun, competitive environment.

Graphic designers all over the world are looking for more business, education, and ways to network, and ThePerfectDesign.com is going to help by providing opportunities for all three in one setting: graphic design contests.

Graphic design contests are nothing new to the design community. The first design contests were held several years ago, and have proven to be a successful model. We understand that there is a market for graphic design contests and we know that the design contest arena is just getting bigger.

How is ThePerfectDesign.com unique?

ThePerfectDesign.com is more than just a contest site. We want The Perfect Design to be a hub for graphic designers all over the world. Here designers can discuss, compare, exhibit, and critique graphic design works in a friendly and constructive environment. Designers can create online portfolios, highlighting their best logos, web page designs, brochures and more.

As our community grows, we'll expand our library of Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design software tutorials and articles. We’ll interview the top designers and share their secrets. We’ll provide tool tips and shortcuts and other guidance to help graphic designers stay on top of their craft. It’s our hope that companies who use ThePerfectDesign.com as a resource to find graphic design work like logos, web page designs, brochures, and other designs will have access to the worlds best designers who are ready to deliver quality work.

Slogan:

We have several ideas floating around for a good slogan, or tag line, but we’d like to see what you, the design community, can come up with. We’d like to hear what your thoughts are for ThePerfectDesign.com slogan. In fact, if you come up with the best slogan we’ll pay you $200 for the slogan!

Detailed Requirements:

We’re looking for a design that will help define who ThePerfectDesign.com is in the graphic design marketplace. We want ThePerfectDesign.com to be recognized. We will utilize marketing efforts to help bring people to our service, but we want to be remembered beyond the marketing. We believe that if you don’t have the right face, it’s hard to put a name with it.

We’re looking for something that not only caters to people who need design work, but something that will be intriguing, or inspiring, to graphic designers. We’re not just focused on people who need graphic design work. This is going to be a fun community atmosphere, where business and networking come naturally.

We want something catchy and memorable that will help us build brand recognition quickly…a logo we can put online anywhere, with or without the name ThePerfectDesign.com next to it. We’d like graphic designers and business owners to recognize the logo and know that it’s ThePerfectDesign.com. We want a timeless masterpiece to represent ThePerfectDesign.com, not some fad logo design that we’ll have to update in a couple years. Examples of timeless logos are:

·McDonald’s
·Apple
·Mercedes
·U.S. Postal Service
·Jaguar
·NBC
·Audi
·Olympics
·PBS
·etc…

File Format: Winning logo shall be delivered in .EPS or .AI format. Additionally, various other files will be requested (.jpg, .gif, .png). Note that during the contest, entries must be submitted in .jpg, .gif, or .png formats.

Must Have:

·We want it to be distinct and memorable.
·Must be timeless. Something we can use for years to come without having to update it frequently.
·Logo needs to look good on a light or dark background, perhaps two different versions: light logo and dark logo.
·$5,000 worth of creative goodness! J

Must Not Have:

·Characteristics that will date it
·Clip art
·Previously copyrighted or trademarked material. DO NOT COPY OTHER PEOPLE’S WORK!

Hi florian,

Regarding contest entries, the instructions indicate that you can submit entries up to 600x600 dpi, at 150k or less. We prefer square images so we can view them easier in our viewer - details here: http://theperfectdesign.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86

As far as the final winning design goes...we'll need the winning logo delivered in a vector format (preferably .ai or .eps format).

Hi, I ´ve been reading your brief and i have some questions to do:

1. I didn´t understood the part of the color preferences: we have to propose colors that match with your screen shots (that is the way your web site is going to be)... or you want us to propose the colors we think will work best with your request (and according to that you can change the colors of your web).

2. Wich target audience do you prefer to focus in, cause it´s harder and less efective if you want to satisfy more than one.

Thank you for the questions!

1. It would be nice if the colors matched the screenshots. The screenshots are of the actual site and how it will look. It will be easier to implement once we receive the design we want, if the colors match.

2. Our focus will be on the entities that need graphic design work. We believe that if we have an excellent design it will be attractive to graphic designers as well.

The contest goes until the evening of Wednesday, August 19th and you can post as many logo entries that you would like in your dedicated thread in the contest forum. We have some slogans we've made up, but we'd also like to see if someone can come up with a better one than us. Please add your own slogan.

Logotype is great, but we'd like to have a symbol that we can use on marketing materials; something that can stand on it's own without the name. Please give us your ideas for both, but we are definitely leaning toward an iconic symbol.

hello dear designers.
here some of my ideas about the perfect designer logo.
i used simpilicity for designs.
1. circle as a center and perfect group of designers.
2. i used fish symbol in one of them. cause fish are always in water and so perfectly align and the movment of them are very balace and gentel, which is all about art and careful curves.
3. i used kind of a melted psycho circle to show the perfect group of creative designers and one black small but powerful circle out side of circle try to get in. and that is one new designer who try to join or you might say new movment or style.
4. the other one is with 3 circles . i try to show that you are working with diffrent group of creatives.
5. the lion figure which is the symbol of royality and power. faceing toward the perfect designer logo type.
6. a big circle and the centerised one which is showing the perfect placement for the small one. the big circle shows the group and team work for one aim, which is that orange circle in center. all for one goal. thats the team work.
7. one with the bended tower shape circles. i try to show that we are spreading the art and new movement all around the globe. and it is growing everyday.

i hope you realise that i used the guestall theory on my designs. simpilicity and solid colors.
i use orange cause it is a color of life and joy to beauty. and it is all about design. joy and beauty.
