I got into the graphic design because I love to draw and paint, I wonted to found a filed that I can do my artwork and get payed for it. so I went to school, learned from the best teacher and now I’m looking to start my own graphic design shop. I love to work in freelance and build my clients up. My style is print design, corporate, logos ect, what ever you need for your business. I use a modern spin on the design, I found the right typeface that will work for the company and the right colors if they don’t have a set colors they use.

I am a practicing artist, but realised I have flair for design as well, since I designed my own web site and logo. Since then I also got a few assignments for logo and poster design. I enjoy the stage where I need to talk the client about the concept behind the company/event etc and then come up with one image that sums up the whole lot of feelings and thoughts.
I am looking forward to the contest as well.

  8. Varun Varadarajan says:

I am a student of visual communication, A B.Sc. Course where we are taught about various creative fields, Designing being one of them. I started to love designing, I felt that logo of a company could hold a value that is unmatchable. I can’t think of coca cola without its logo. So, I entered into Logo designing as a side by side business and I faced a couple of successes. One of my logo got selected in the US by an entertainment party. Another is for a developing organization that will provide healthy soups to It professionals by having a stall in many IT offices. I just love designing. So many minor details. So many variations. IT is all so amazing. I just love it.

  23. David Podesta says:

David Podesta was lured into graphic design after being torn by the choices of Design or Journalism in his youth. He entered the work force through printing and was side tracked by print production for many years. Pre computer paste-up, typography, book binding and finishing, printing, machine maintenance and so on. Eventually things turned full circle with the advent of computerised design. Design, with a bit of advertising thrown in started to become the norm. He has always love the craft and considers himself a ‘jack of all trades,’ still loving to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty with the ink that has become a trade mark to his existance. This of course does not dampen his desire to communicate tasteful design that is attractive, practical and technically correct.

  24. Purpledoor says:

I have been doing tiresome admin centred jobs for years, so I decided that this year, I am going to make a break for it. The Great Escape. So, I have been teaching myself what I can about design – although I know that I have a long way to go. I’m too po’ to go to school, so I’ve been learning from the net. So in between the filing and typing (blegh) and looking after my gorgeous 3 year old, I am digging a hole with a rusty teaspoon under the barbed wire fence :) I enjoy entering competitions as a learning experience. My dream is to one day be a freelance designer (cue the ‘Age of Aquarius’ music)

I decorated most of my homeland’s trees, birds, rocks and sky and I am looking for the ultimate challenge, that is to make the world a better place. I heard that you can do anything with the internet, even send messages to the Gods. So I want to make a perfect design logo so that the Gods see it!

What drew me to graphic design is the talent i was born with, ever since my childhood my favorite activity was drawing i used to like drawing on the walls of my room until my mom decided to buy me a drawing book. This went on for a very long time even in my primary level the best subject was art and craft which i had a couple of awards for being the best student.

hi friends. I am a fashion designer by profession. Since graphic design forms a great part in fashion design as well, i am really crazy about it. I am infatuated with graphics because it forms a communication between the onlooker and the product. It makes the non-living speak and express. i might be sounding kiddish but friends “YES”, this is what actually I feel about graphic designing and why i am passionate about you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so as a designer I would like to focus on the freelance aspect of graphic design. Its great fun..

  33. ARISTEA says:

When i was a child i had two major hobbies-loves: photography and painting. I used to be very good in painting, specially “copying” major paintings! My art teacher saw me some years after i finished school and asked me why i didn’t go to Fine Arts School! After taking exams for university 2-3 times unsuccessfully, i decided that i had to study something in order to find job easily to many places. I was between graphic design and logistics at that time. I decided graphic design cause i had some artistic vein in my blood… Well the road after that was not easy at all… I did many other jobs in between… After some years i went to another private academy that i was taught web design. Now, after many years working 14 hours per day, i prefer any job without much stress…

Hi. I am a creative director of a small studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been in the design industry for 5 years after completing my N.Dip. Graphic Design at The University of Johannesburg (Formerly Technikon Witwatersrand).

I got into design as a way to be creative every day, with new and exciting projects coming along all the time. My grandfather and uncle are in the printing industry, and I got the oppourtunity to visit many printing factories and see some of the amazing work that other designers were doing when I was younger, and that inspired me even more to become a designer.

I mostly work in the print design field, doing anything from corporate identites to billboards, recently I have been doing web design and I have started to focus on illustration in my spare time. I use Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand (I know it is outdated, but i find it has some functionality I can’t live without) Flash, Illustrator, In-Design and more recently, Corel Painter 11.

  49. Steve Smart says:

I got into graphic design because I loved to express myself through art. Later on my reasons for being a graphic artist have just grown. I really enjoyed meeting positive people who have dreams and ideas but simply felt that the void in there dream was being noticed. These people know that presentation is one of the first steps on making a great impression. Ever since I was a kid it was art and style that lured me in on finding out more about anything. Can you Imagen anybody out of the know picking up a magazine, cd, book, movie etc, that would just have a blank cover? I know I can’t. It makes me feel really great to hear there vision and be able to produce what they can only imagine in there head. It’s also nice to see to your graphic or logo on a product.

from a lil kid, i had a love for art and design, and was alway good with my hands and problem solving, but all tha work for ppls in tha field was like tec-drawing “blueprint”, construction, sign painters, thing like tha, stuff like tha, doN tags on walls, tshirts and shirts for grad.students, lil cartoon sketches, things like tha. then a day i saw some one doN graphic design.. and to me it was a lil bit like doN what i was on walls and buildings etc. only tha it was on cpu and that it would not get me into trouble. so got my grind on got my first laptop. and ask to learn Graphic design, “and i member tha feelN when ppls talk bout my first design, and how i felt cN my art work on posterz, and billboards, even tha TV “so at this point i now have a passion for art, and yes tha money my boss said he made from it,

so it did not matter that there is a small market for graphic design in G’da, i have been able to do some of tha major graphic design/illustrations work on tha island, with most of even, new companies, and revampN of company logos, also been sub contracted other graphic comp.. in GD. Hi, I am writing in regards to the logo design contest you posted on your website. I am a Graphic designer currently living in Guatemala city, Central America. I count with 6 years of work experience in comercial art., and as long as I can recall it has been my passion, my way of life.

Why graphic design?? I believe I’m the right man for the job because I am completely immersed in that field; I thouroughly enjoy taking on new challenges, and continually seek growth in knowledge, and life experiences.

I am submitting a website I created for an Advertising Agency’s website I had been employed with previously. The layout, concept, arts and execution are mine. I try to maintain my skill-set broad and current and love to dabble in Web design, multi media, and most of the general areas design encompasses, a jack of all trades if you will.

I can’t quite recall the particular moment in which I decided to steer my life in that direction but Art has been a focal point since I have use of reason, quite frankly I don’t think there’s another way of life I’d rather have.

  65. DennisTM says:

We all have the same story. We like to dabble in graphics.

I got into design after returning from 2 years of traveling overseas. I use to teach music and wanted to do something different. I met a singer that was looking for a pianist and while we were rehearsing found that he was a graphic designer. Not long after I visited magazines etc to see if this could be something nice for me to do.

I’m creative and solution driven and love interaction with people. Programs I use include Creative suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator) & Freehand MX.

Greetings Sirs, My name is Borjax and I am from the future. In the future, the internet is obsolete and mankind is at peace. Graphic design no longer exists. The social networking mandate of 2086 required all new infants to have InterJacks™ surgically implanted into the base of their spine allowing all future generations to be plugged into the HoloCloud™ — an advanced global 3D virtualization network that is used mainly for cyber sex and cyber cat memes. I have spent 6 space cash dollars to return to your time and warn you all that your careers will most likely fail and your idea of professionalism is laughable.

I’m a 20 year old female that has just came into the field 2 years ago… I found out that I love graphic design work because it gives me a chance to express myself to others…I was always told Throughout school that I was never going to make it in life because of a so called learning disability… Well I proved them wrong…Uh. I placed top 10 out to the US (6th place to be exact) in SkillsUSA Nationals – Advertising Design, I also design the SkillsUSA Florida State pin, which was traded throughout Kansas City where SkillsUSA was held.. and I also designed the Promotional Bulletin Board for my team members for SkillsUSA comp. They ended up placing 3rd at SkillsUSA Nationals… So I think I have been proving those people wrong. LOL I know that there is always room to grow and get better at what u do so I’m looking forward in growing and I learned to NEVER GIVE UP no-matter how many people think that u cant make it in life…. Dont let those comments stop u!!!!!! Design is my LIFE!!!!

Hello! Thank you for the opportunity to let us all participate in this fun contest. It’s always nice seeing graphic designers from every corners of the world coming together and showing off their great talents and critiquing one another. So thank you ThePerfectDesign.com team.

I came to the United States when I was 13 years old, from a war-torn third-world country. Ever since i was a kid I’ve loved drawing and painting. As a kid, I always had a sketch book with me wherever I went and drew whatever i saw. Unfortunately, coming from a war-torn country, there weren’t any nice things to draw/paint except sadness. So after we came to the U.S., I fell in love with graphic design after playing around on an old Compaq computer playing around on Paint. It didn’t take me long to start designing web site layouts and logos. When I started high school, that when I really got into the whole graphic design thing. I was awarded the “outstanding web designer” by my high school’s web design department in my senior year. Around the same time, I was also busy studying music which is something that later on I decided not to make a career out of and instead leave it just as a personal thing. I started attending a community college studying graphic design and I was still going towards getting my degree in graphic design but recently had to stop taking classes due to financial issues. But I’m not the only one getting affected by the whole economy thing right now so hopefully the economy will get better soon and I can start taking classes again. I’ve finished most of my classes though and I spend a lot of time just designing stuffs like web site templates, logos, business cards, flayers and etc.

I’m a really fast learner. Anyone I design stuffs for, I tend to teach them something about graphic design and printing if they’re someone who doesn’t know much about those things. I believe everyone should know a little about everything. I’ve been a graphic designer for several years now but I like to think that I’m still a beginner. I prefer to work mostly with the web than printing though. To me, the web is much more fun. However, graphic designers should ALWAYS know about printing and interactive design too. Anyways, I just wanted to share a little bit about myself to everyone on here :) And good luck to all the contestants and may the best logos win. Thanks!

I wrote a couple of paragraphs about myself on here last night but I don’t know why they didn’t showed up. Maybe they were long or something. Anyways, I started going into web/graphic design back in high school. I’ve always been good at drawing and painting ever since I was a kid. I’m also a musician so seeing all kind of cool designs from the bands I listen to kind of inspired me too. When I went into the graphic design field, I felt very comfortable. I’m planning on starting to go into photography soon because it’s good for graphic designers to know a little bit of that too. I’m still studying graphic design in college but I had to stop taking classes for a while due to financial reasons because I’m not working right now. The economy thing is affecting almost everyone so I guess it’s not just me. Hopefully I can start again with my classes once I find a good job again. As for what I prefer, web or print, I like web more than print, because I believe web is more fun. I love designing web site templates, logos and video/audio editing and authoring. And I like to thank ThePerfectDesign.com team for the opportunity to participate in this fun contest. Best of luck to everyone and may the best logos win :) Thanks.

  81. Corie says:

I have had a creative and artistic nature since my earliest memories. I got in to graphic design by accident kind of….I have no formal training or schooling for it so I have taught myself everything through trial and error and tutorials. Being a stay at home mom of two young boys its a great way for me to contribute to our family while still being able to raise my kids and do something that I love and allows me to be creative on a daily basis! Thanks for such a great contest!

  82. Paul Scotton says:

I have always been creative since a youngster and used to love drawing cartoons. I went to an Art and design college where I studied Graphic design and point-of-sale where I achieved an A grade in A level and a Distinction in a diploma of which are both the highest awards in the exams I took. All this was back in 1981 and have now been a graphic designer for over 28 years. I started before computers were around so I am an original old school designer that used to use a drawing board, magic markers, scalpels and wax …all a bit different from nowadays. My very first job was designing record and video sleeves in London using magic markers. I am now totally self taught on a Mac and in the CS softwares and more and work in Spain as a British freelance graphic designer. Over my time as a designer I have worked in Los Angeles, London and Marbella with clients as far away as Dubai and Bermuda. I still enjoy my time as a designer but nowadays competition is very tough with so many designers out there. I am having to learn new software all the time to keep up with the current design work required …but my main work still lies in the print side of design.

  83. Hina Banit says:

Arts and crafts — that’s so me! Ever since I can remember, I loved to draw and create. Currently, I channel my creativity through cakes. (hinascakes.com) It’s a lot of time-consuming work, but I love the challenge to create something unique for my customers.

Although I don’t have formal training in graphic design, I do have a BS in Mathematics/Computer Science. I am a fast learner and have taught myself the basics of many software applications. To combine computers to create logos is the best of both worlds. The possibilities of what can be created is limitless!

I am so excited that you have offered this great contest! It has been fun! Thanks!
