Dealing With Hard Deadlines?

During large projects with short deadlines, you may have to simplify your life a little bit to make sure you get the rest you need as well as keep your creativity at its max throughout the project.

A tight deadline may require you to make some sacrifices. You may have to push hard to make the newsletter deadline or drop the direct mail piece in time for an upcoming event. This will require some skipped lunches, late nights and Saturdays in the office.

Triage your normal activities by priority, put your best effort and time into tackling the project with hard deadlines. A hard deadline is a deadline that isn’t flexible, can’t be moved, like a quarterly newsletter, tradeshow, sales event, or a special offer with an expiration date.

Balance Your Life!

Write down your normal activities and try to eliminate those that aren’t necessary for survival. Personal projects and freebies for friends can be put on the backburner for when you have downtime. Lunch with friends, watching the game or the book you have been dying to read may have to take a backseat. Take a few of these pressures off so you can complete your mission. Proceed and conquer!

Make these periods the exception, not the norm. Maintaining a healthy life balance is more important than killing yourself with work.
