Jowy Sabater – Graphic Designer SpotLight

Jowy Sabater
I was born and grew up in Manila, Philippines from 1979. We moved in Cavite in 2001 after I graduated College. Finally stayed in Makati with my wife and kids. Now I am working here in Dubai, UAE as a Graphic Designer.
Since first grade I knew how to draw. I used to participate in some drawing competitions growing up. I love to work on mural paintings, sketching, abstract and charcoal portraits. I planned to take art related courses before I graduated in Computer Engineering. I decided to continue my passion after this course. Its a good combination of knowledge having these two professions. My inspiration is Juan Luna who created the Spolarium. I want my designs recognized in other ways, different from usual concept and different from normal graphic design.
Yes, I do freelance after work. Depends on my schedule. I love my work very much, but I want to work again in Advertising.
Composition, Typography and Final Art are all my favorite aspects with graphic design.
The one project I would love to do would be my own family tree (hehe) because its a good combination of ages and concepts. A transition of ideas from the past years to the current.
A good piece of advice would be to love your critiques, they will teach you how to learn by your self.
I have two individuals who helped me, my Parents. During my childhood they gave me a lot of support in my interest. Even when my drawings were not that good and the color was really bad (hehe). My mother really guided me until I finished my artwork. My Father supported me also by buying my materials needed.
How I help with my writer’s block would be Starbucks (sometimes), normal coffee and a prayer…
Besides work, I love to Just enjoy every single second… where ever I am.
I always pray that God will give me the best, when looking into the future.
Thanks
