Designer Spotlight – S. Mohamed Shihabdeen
We’ll be spotlighting designers on our blog from time to time and would like to spotlight at this time, the winner of our $5,000 Logo Design Contest. We asked “Shihab” a few questions about himself and here are his answers:
S. Mohamed Shihabdeen - India
I’ve been designing since I was a child, around 5 years old, and have had many awards during my school years. This is my 9th year as a professional designer.
You could say that design is in my blood, but my father is my inspiration! He drew caricatures when I was young… Some of my uncles are artists as well, but none of them design professionally because they never had the exposure or training to get them there, so I decided to take the design path on behalf of them 
The Road Painters are also some of my biggest inspirations. I like to mimic their design style on occasion.
Design is my passion. It’s my everything! I’m a brand designer at TripodIndia, as well as a freelancer. In the next two months I’ll be going solo to start my own venture with my own set of clients. I also enjoy football and have played on the state Foot Ball Team, and have received various awards in athletic sports.
The design market is great here! India is one of the best places for any market… So, the design market has boomed like crazy over the past 10 years. But, there are markets in India that don’t understand what design and branding are and how it helps them to improve their business. However, the design market is really great here overall, and there are very talented designers here as well.
I love the internet! The internet helped introduce me to the world. Exposure is what we need! To be frank, I do 3/4 of my business through internet.
I’d eventually like to take classes to educate brand owners about graphic design and how it affects their business. You could call it my dream…so I’ll do it down the line for sure! I would also educate freelancers who sell their designs for peanuts…
It’s GREAT to hear that a big platform is coming for designers like us to showcase our talents to the world market… I’m sure I’ll play a big role at ThePerfectDesign.com…and a designer’s destination could be here soon!
